How our crosswords are made
Every grid is a free-form crossword built by the site from its own word list. The answers interlock wherever they share a letter, but not every square is used, and the grid is not a symmetrical block pattern like a newspaper crossword. The clues are written in plain English and the answers are common words from the home, the garden, the kitchen and the great outdoors.
Made to be easy to use

- Large makes the squares and text bigger and easier to read.
- Highlight mistakes shows wrong letters in red, and Hint reveals a single letter when you are stuck.
